Varieties of Brandywine Tomatoes
|
Pink Brandywine Tomato |
Open pollinated. You simply will not believe the flavor of this heirloom tomato. Has won many taste tests and is considered by many to be the best tasting tomato in the world. An old Amish heirloom tomato dating back to 1885, Brandywine is a pink beefsteak type tomato, with thin skinned, rich flavored, 3/4 lb - 1 lb. tomatoes. Indeterminate. 80 days. |
Red Brandywine Tomato |
Large scarlet fruits in fair yields borne on strong, vigorous plants. Mine seem to be a little less prone to cracking as the pink variety but maybe not quite as good tasting. Still really good flavor. 85 days. |
Yellow Brandywine Tomato |
Yellow Brandywine is a large yellow beefsteak type tomato with an excellent flavor and a creamy texture that reaches weights from 1 to 2 pounds. These nice yellow tomatoes are produced in adequate numbers upon an Indeterminate vine which features potato type leaves. The plants are hardy and do exceptionally well in climates subject to drought. Indeterminate. Matures about 100 days. |
Black Brandywine Tomato |
Like other Black tomatoes, the Black Brandywine Tomato is a maroon red colored tomato with outstanding tomato tasting flesh and just like other Brandywine Tomato varieties, this rare tomato features the qualities that make the Brandywine Tomato family famous. Here is an outstanding Black Tomato of a beefsteak type with the hallmark potato type leaves that puts out large, meaty and sweet flavored fruit. Believed to have arisen in California by an accidental cross between a Pink Brandywine Tomato and either a Black From Tula or Cherokee Purple Tomato. Indeterminate. Typically lighter in color than other black tomatoes. About 80-90 days to maturity. |
White Brandywine Tomato |
The White Brandywine tomato is known for its superb flavor. 3-6 oz. flattened globes of creamy, yellowish-white, exceptionally sweet, full-bodied flesh that is beautiful, too. It's easy to make very large fruits simply by picking off all but one flower in each cluster. We found ourselves gobbling more and more of these tomatoes while saving seeds from them. Strong, old-fashioned, potato-leaved variety with high yields. Outstanding. 80 days. Indeterminate |
